You are doing business with an expanding family company that traces its roots back to 1918, when Phillip Kohn opened up Phillip Kohn and Company on Market Street in downtown Lima, Ohio. In the spring of 1968, Al Rabiner, and his wife Sophia, both long time Lima community members purchased the business. Al and Sophia, along with Sophia’s brother, Sam Yessenow, ran the business in the same location in which it started in 1918 – 106 E. Market Street. In 1987, Al and Sophia’s son, Craig, came back to Lima and into the business. While Al and Sophia remained very active in helping to grow the business, Craig became the primary principal. In 1989 Craig took the company to the next level by officially incorporating it and changing the name to Kohn’s Loan Company. It was shortly thereafter that he moved the business to its current location at 126 West High Street.
When Craig’s son Brent, the third generation of pawnbrokers, made it clear that he wanted to continue the family business, he was encouraged to embark on a course that would enhance his training in the industry. After a number of years of working with some of the leading operators in the industry, Brent returned to Ohio and plans were made to expand into the Cincinnati market.
The Money Vault Jewelry and Loan was opened in Cincinnati, Ohio on Queen City Avenue in the fall of 2010.
Brent soon after opened a second location in Cincinnati, Ohio on Colerain Avenue in the fall of 2013.
